James Frain

Best known for his portrayal of Daniel Barenboim in Hilary and Jackie, Frain most recently appeared as Natalie Portman's love interest in Where the Heart Is, Ben Affleck's cellmate in Reindeer Games and Ralph Fiennes' brother in Sunshine.

He played the sinister Alvaro in Elizabeth, the title role in FilmFour's Vigo, and the lead in Thaddeus O'Sullivan's critically acclaimed Nothing Personal. He has twice appeared opposite Anthony Hopkins -- in Richard Attenborough's Shadowlands and in Julie Taymor's Titus.

His television work includes Prime Suspect III, The Buccaneers, and Macbeth in Macbeth on the Estate for the BBC. On stage, he has appeared at the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Almeida, the Peter Hall Company and the Royal Court. Frain will soon star in Armadillo for A&E and John Frankenheimer's Path to War for HBO. He is currently starring in King Lear at the Almeida Theatre in London.
